Youth share love with Grace's sister congregation

On December 19, students from ROCK High School Ministry drove up to Waukegan where they shared the love of Christ with members from our sister church, Sagrado Corazon.

It was an example of yet another chance for everyone to see that God's love for the church is so much bigger than one congregation.  Our students spend time in the previous week picking out fleece patterns, making blankets from the fleece, wrapping them and preparing to give a total of 15 blankets to older kids at the church who would not have received a gift otherwise.

Read what sophomore Bianca Rogers writes about her experience:

As soon as we entered the church everyone welcomed us with open arms. They all seemed so happy that we were there. When the service was finished the congregation came into the fellowship hall to see what we had brought. There were games and prizes for the kids and songs and food for everyone. I felt very overwhelmed when their pastor asked us to eat first. It was so kind and generous of him. They even opened a whole table for us to eat at. At the end, all of ROCK gave out blankets that we had made earlier, after a couple of minutes all of our blankets were given out. I remember giving the blanket I made to a little boy. Everyone there was so happy with everything that they got, the entire experience made us feel so glad we could use our gifts to help others.

This is an exciting bridge that is being built between two congregations from two different communities. And these things make God smile - to see them realize that they are not so different after all.  Because the love of Jesus draws them together.
